Nigeria’s non-oil export sector recorded significant growth in the first half of 2025, hitting $3.225 billion — a 19.59% increase compared to the $2.696 billion generated in the same period last year.
The Executive Director/CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nonye Ayeni, made this announcement in Abuja on Sunday while presenting the council’s Half-Year Progress Report.
According to Ayeni, shipment volumes also grew from 3.83 million metric tonnes in the first half of 2024 to 4.04 million metric tonnes in 2025. This growth, she explained, was fueled by strong global demand for Nigerian goods, particularly from emerging markets like India, Brazil, Vietnam, and several African nations.
“In the first half of 2025, non-oil products exported were valued at $3.225 billion, showing a 19.59% rise over last year’s figures,” Ayeni said.

Breaking down the performance, she noted that in Q1 2025 alone, exports stood at $1.791 billion — a 24.75% jump from the $1.436 billion posted in Q1 2024. Shipment volumes during the quarter also rose by 24.3%, from 1.937 million metric tonnes to 2.416 million metric tonnes.
Ayeni described the report as a detailed account of the sector’s achievements, challenges, and growth prospects as the year progresses.
