Bianca Ojukwu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs, following the resignation of former minister Yusuf Tuggar.

The appointment, announced in a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, comes as Tuggar stepped down from office to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who previously served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, is now elevated to head the ministry and oversee Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements and foreign policy direction.

In the same development, President Tinubu nominated Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Enikanolaiye, a seasoned diplomat with over three decades of experience, previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations and has held key postings in cities including Addis Ababa, London and New Delhi.

The presidency said the appointments form part of ongoing efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy architecture for greater efficiency, stronger global partnerships and enhanced economic diplomacy.

The move signals continuity in Nigeria’s diplomatic leadership while preparing the administration for evolving international and regional challenges ahead of the next election cycle.
