Nigeria’s High Commissioner Dalhatu Presents Letters of Credence to King Charles III

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to King Charles III in a diplomatic ceremony held at St James’s Palace in London.

The presentation of the Letters of Credence officially confirms Dalhatu’s appointment as Nigeria’s chief diplomatic representative to the United Kingdom, enabling him to fully assume his responsibilities in London. He attended the ceremony alongside his wife.

Letters of Credence are official diplomatic documents issued by a head of state to accredit ambassadors and high commissioners to foreign governments. Their acceptance by the host country’s monarch or president marks the formal commencement of an envoy’s tenure.

Following the ceremony, the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce congratulated Dalhatu, describing the development as a significant milestone in Nigeria–United Kingdom relations.

In a statement shared on its social media platforms, the chamber said Dalhatu’s accreditation comes at a defining period in relations between both countries, especially after President Bola Tinubu’s recent state visit to Windsor Castle and growing bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The chamber further expressed confidence that Dalhatu’s leadership would strengthen diplomatic engagement, deepen economic collaboration, and create broader opportunities for businesses and citizens in both nations.

Nigeria and the United Kingdom maintain longstanding diplomatic ties across sectors including trade, education, investment, security, and cultural exchange. The UK also hosts one of the largest Nigerian diaspora communities globally, contributing significantly to relations between the two countries.

Dalhatu’s formal accreditation is expected to further enhance cooperation between Abuja and London as both countries continue to pursue stronger economic and diplomatic partnerships.
