The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has rejected a recent Federal High Court ruling affecting the party’s registration, describing the decision as legally flawed and vowing to challenge it through all available legal channels.

The court had set aside its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC as a political party and ordered that the substantive suit be heard afresh with all relevant parties joined in the proceedings.

Reacting to the development, Dickson insisted that the judgment was aimed at frustrating the growing popularity of the party and undermining the democratic rights of its members and supporters.

He maintained that the NDC would not abandon its quest for recognition and participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.

“We reject this verdict and will continue to pursue justice through every lawful and constitutional means available to us,” Dickson said.

The former Bayelsa governor also expressed confidence that the party would ultimately prevail, adding that the setback would not discourage its members or derail preparations ahead of future political activities.

“The NDC remains committed to providing Nigerians with a credible alternative political platform. This judgment is only a temporary setback,” he added.

The ruling has generated reactions from opposition figures and political stakeholders, with some raising concerns about its implications for multiparty democracy and political inclusion in Nigeria. The NDC has already indicated its intention to appeal the decision and continue its legal battle over registration.
