Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has announced a reshuffle of the state’s executive council, bringing fresh faces into his administration and reorganizing key ministries for improved performance.

At a swearing-in ceremony held on Tuesday at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Umuahia, the governor formally welcomed two new commissioners and one special adviser into his team.

The new appointees are:

  • Salome Obiukwu – Commissioner for Trade and Commerce
  • Chiemela Uzoije – Commissioner for Housing
  • Christian Enweremadu – Special Adviser on Agriculture

Governor Otti also disclosed that the Ministry of Lands and Housing has been split into two distinct portfolios for greater efficiency. With the adjustment, Chaka Chukwumerije will now serve as Commissioner for Lands, while Kingsley Nwokocha, who previously headed Trade and Commerce, has been redeployed as Commissioner for Labour and Productivity.

The governor explained that the changes were necessary to strengthen governance and ensure that ministries remain focused on delivering services effectively. He charged the new appointees to bring innovation, dedication, and integrity to their roles, stressing that his administration is determined to meet the expectations of Abia people.
