Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Hope Uzodinma, has forecast a significant wave of defections from opposition parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the 2027 general elections draw nearer, citing the party’s growing influence nationwide.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Saturday after a strategic meeting with political stakeholders from Delta State, Governor Uzodinma pointed to recent high-profile defections including that of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other key figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as evidence of the APC’s strengthening position.
“The tide is clearly in our favour, and more politicians are joining by the day,” Uzodinma said. “Delta State is fast becoming a one-party state, with the APC growing from strength to strength.”
He stressed that the APC is committed to leveraging its internal structures to seamlessly integrate both new and existing members, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective progress.
“Our focus is to manage this tremendous success effectively by welcoming new leaders and building a stronger, more cohesive party for the benefit of our people,” he added.

Governor Uzodinma described the defections as a clear testament to the APC’s rising popularity across the country and expressed confidence that the party would continue to expand its influence in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
