The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a ₦6 million fine on Nasarawa United and ordered the club to play its remaining home matches of the season at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe. This follows a violent incident during Sunday’s fixture against Plateau United in which Plateau’s Vincent Temitope was physically assaulted by Nasarawa supporters, sustaining injuries to his neck.
According to an official NPFL statement released Monday, Nasarawa United was found guilty of multiple breaches of league regulations, including failure to provide adequate security and failure to control its supporters. The league emphasized that an unauthorized individual gained access to restricted areas and assaulted players and officials.
Breakdown of Sanctions:
- ₦2 million for failure to provide adequate security and to control supporters.
- ₦3 million for persistent violation of NPFL rules.
- ₦1 million to cover medical expenses and compensation for Plateau United’s Vincent Temitope.

“These breaches not only jeopardize player safety but also tarnish the integrity of the league,” the NPFL said via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
The incident has sparked renewed calls for stricter enforcement of league security protocols and greater accountability among clubs.
