Real Madrid have opened disciplinary proceedings against midfielders Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde following a heated training ground altercation that reportedly left Valverde hospitalised with a head injury.
The Spanish club confirmed the decision in an official statement released on Thursday after reports emerged of a dressing room confrontation between the two players at the club’s Valdebebas training complex.
According to multiple reports, tensions between the pair had already escalated during an earlier training session before the situation worsened into a physical clash the following day.
Valverde was reportedly taken to hospital after suffering a head injury during the incident. Real Madrid later confirmed that the midfielder sustained head trauma and would require between 10 and 14 days of rest, ruling him out of upcoming matches, including El Clasico against FC Barcelona.
In its statement, the club said disciplinary procedures had been initiated against both players and that further updates would be provided once internal investigations are completed.
Reports from Spanish and international media claimed the confrontation may have stemmed from accusations relating to leaked dressing room information and frustrations surrounding Real Madrid’s difficult season.
Valverde later issued a public statement denying reports that the pair exchanged punches, insisting that he accidentally hit his head on a table during a heated argument. The Uruguayan midfielder admitted there had been tension but rejected claims of a “fistfight.”
The incident has intensified concerns over unrest inside the Real Madrid dressing room as the club struggles through a disappointing campaign marked by injuries, inconsistent performances, and growing internal tensions.
Real Madrid are currently preparing for a crucial El Clasico showdown against Barcelona while also dealing with increasing scrutiny over squad harmony and management stability.
