World No.1 completes ‘Sunshine Double’ after thrilling three-set victory
World number one Aryna Sabalenka delivered a commanding performance to defeat Coco Gauff and clinch her second consecutive Miami Open title on Saturday.
Sabalenka battled past the American star in a gripping final, winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 to retain her crown and further cement her dominance on the women’s tour.
The Belarusian took control early, overpowering Gauff in the opening set with aggressive baseline play. Although Gauff responded strongly to claim the second set, Sabalenka regained composure in the decider, breaking early and holding firm to seal victory.
With the triumph, Sabalenka not only defended her Miami title but also completed the prestigious “Sunshine Double” — winning both Indian Wells and Miami in the same season a rare feat last achieved in 2022.

The win marks another milestone in what has been a remarkable season for Sabalenka, who has now established herself as the dominant force in women’s tennis. Her powerful groundstrokes and improved consistency proved decisive against Gauff, who was appearing in her first Miami Open final.
Despite the defeat, Gauff showed resilience, fighting back to level the match before falling short in the final set. The American remains one of the sport’s brightest talents and is expected to bounce back strongly in upcoming tournaments.
