The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the full restoration of electricity supply to six states in Northeast Nigeria following a prolonged outage.
In a statement released on Sunday, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah confirmed that normal bulk power transmission has resumed after the successful connection of the new Bauchi 330/132kV transmission substation to the national grid via the 330kV and 132kV Jos-Bauchi-Gombe transmission lines.
The transmission lines were temporarily deactivated to facilitate the energizing of the newly constructed substation — one of the largest in the region.
“Transmission lines have now been reconnected to the national grid. Consequently, power supply to the Northeast has been fully restored since June 19 at about 16:45 hours,” the statement read.
With the project completed, bulk electricity supply has resumed to the Jos and Yola Electricity Distribution Companies, which serve customers across Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba, and the Damaturu area of Borno State.
According to TCN, the integration of the Bauchi substation significantly improves power reliability, diversifies transmission routes, and strengthens emergency response capabilities in the Northeast.

The company also expressed appreciation to residents and customers in the affected states for their patience and cooperation throughout the outage period.
