The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has urged President Bola Tinubu to exercise compassion and free the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, from custody.
Kalu expressed the appeal during a conversation with reporters following the first meeting of the House of Representatives’ committee on the South East Development Commission (SEDC) at the National Assembly complex in Abuja on Wednesday.
Udora Orizu, Special Assistant on Press Affairs to the deputy Speaker, mentioned that Kalu praised Tinubu for his ongoing support and dedication to the peace, development, and stability of the South-East region.
He observed that the President, upon taking office, has demonstrated his affection for the South-Easterners in multiple ways, including his prompt approval of the South East Development Commission Bill that had not succeeded in earlier assemblies.

Proposing a political strategy rather than a legal one for Kanu’s release, the deputy speaker noted that the region’s residents will always be thankful to the President if this comes to fruition.
Expressing hope that the President will respond to their request, the Kalu observed that Kanu’s release would diminish insecurity in the area and also initiate development that the SEDC is set to provide.

Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
