Nigerian music icon 2Baba has reflected on his 25-year journey in the entertainment industry, revealing that his greatest driving force remains his desire for peace, even as he acknowledged a key regret about his career path.
Speaking during the Vanguard Personality of the Year Awards in Lagos, the veteran singer described his journey as one marked by resilience, growth, and global recognition.
According to him, while he is grateful for his success and enduring fan support, he wishes he had been more aggressive and knowledgeable in business decisions earlier in his career.
“I wish I was more engaged and educated myself as an aggressive businessman,” he said, noting that despite the regret, he remains content with the life he has lived.
The award-winning artiste, who rose to fame as a member of Plantashun Boiz before embarking on a successful solo career, emphasized that his core motivation has always been peaceful coexistence and staying true to himself.
Reflecting on his experiences in the spotlight, 2Baba admitted that fame has come at a personal cost, particularly the loss of privacy. He noted that public scrutiny often turns even minor actions into major talking points.
He also revisited his past dispute with former bandmate Blackface, describing the situation as disappointing but noting that both parties have since resolved their differences out of court.
Despite the challenges, the singer expressed satisfaction at witnessing the global rise of Nigerian music, describing it as a dream come true after years of effort by industry pioneers.
Looking ahead, 2Baba said he remains committed to making more music and contributing to societal development, including potential involvement in politics, although he has yet to decide on contesting for public office.
