The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be staged between June and July, as Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda prepare to jointly host the tournament.
The competition is scheduled to kick off on June 19 and conclude on July 17, 2027, following ratification of the calendar by global football authorities.
The tournament will mark a historic milestone as the first AFCON edition to be co-hosted by three countries, with the East African nations collaborating under a unified “Pamoja” framework to deliver the continental showpiece.
CAF’s decision to retain the June–July window aligns with recent editions of the tournament and provides clarity for teams, broadcasters, and stakeholders ahead of qualification matches and preparations.
Officials say the hosts are intensifying efforts to upgrade infrastructure, including stadiums and transport systems, as they race against time to meet CAF standards before the tournament.
The 2027 edition is also expected to be symbolic, marking 70 years of the Africa Cup of Nations and representing a return of the tournament to the East African region for the first time in decades.
With preparations underway, CAF has expressed confidence that Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda can deliver a successful and memorable tournament, despite ongoing concerns about readiness in some host venues.
The confirmation of dates is expected to boost planning efforts across participating nations, as teams gear up for qualifiers and fans anticipate a landmark edition of Africa’s premier football competition.
