Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah has officially entered transfer negotiations with Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor, bringing an end to weeks of speculation over his next destination following his departure from Liverpool.

Trabzonspor confirmed that discussions are underway to sign the free-agent forward, announcing that negotiations had commenced for the transfer of the former Liverpool and Egypt captain. The club described Salah as a free agent and expressed optimism about completing the move in the coming days.

Club chairman Ertugrul Dogan revealed that Salah is expected to travel to Turkey for medical examinations before finalising the transfer if negotiations are successfully concluded.

Salah became a free agent after bringing an end to his remarkable nine-year spell at Liverpool, where he established himself as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.

During his time at Anfield, the Egyptian forward scored more than 250 goals, won multiple major honours, including two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League, and collected numerous individual awards for his outstanding performances.

The 34-year-old had been linked with several clubs across Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Major League Soccer following his Liverpool exit. However, Trabzonspor now appear to have moved into pole position to secure his signature after officially opening negotiations.

If the deal is completed, Salah will become one of the biggest signings in the history of Turkish football and a major addition to a Trabzonspor side preparing to compete in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers after finishing third in the Turkish Super Lig last season.

The move would also reunite Salah with a league that has increasingly attracted high-profile international players in recent years as Turkish clubs continue to strengthen their squads with experienced stars.

Neither Salah nor his representatives have publicly commented on the negotiations, while Trabzonspor has not disclosed the financial details or the proposed length of the contract.

Football fans across the world will now be watching closely as talks continue, with an official announcement expected if both parties reach a final agreement.
