A seasoned media strategist and political communications veteran, Emmanuel Enyinnaya Appolos, has formally declared his intention to contest the Abia State House of Assembly election for Obingwa West (Uhie) constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party.
Appolos, who currently serves as spokesman to former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to Spain brings a dual pedigree of frontline journalism and high-level government service to his legislative bid.
A native of Isiko Village, Mgboko Umuanunu in Obingwa Local Government Area, he served as Personal Assistant, Chief Press Secretary, and later Media Adviser to Governor Ikpeazu during his tenure, giving him rare inside knowledge of how governance decisions are made and where they fall short.
His journalism career spanned respected platforms including The Nation, Nigerian Compass, Union Newspaper, and Oversight Magazine, where he rose to Editor-at-Large.

Beyond the newsroom and Government House, Appolos served as State Vice Chairman of the PDP for Abia South at one of the party’s most turbulent periods following the 2023 elections, a role he credits with helping stabilise and rebuild the party’s base in the zone.
In a declaration issued on Sunday, May 4, 2026, from his Isiko Village home, Appolos said his candidacy was not driven by ambition alone but by a clearly defined mandate to deliver visible, accountable, and results-driven representation for communities spanning Mgboko Umuanunu, Mgboko Itungwa, Mgboko Amairi, Ahiaba, and Abayi.
He acknowledged the contributions of incumbent representative Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr., framing his campaign as a continuation and expansion not a repudiation of existing legislative efforts.
Appolos confirmed he has obtained the party’s nomination forms in full compliance with INEC guidelines.
