The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has distributed a total of ₦2.30 trillion among the Federal Government, the 36 states, and the 774 local government councils as revenue generated in May 2026.

The latest allocation represents an increase of ₦43 billion compared to the ₦2.26 trillion shared in April, reflecting a 1.9 percent month-on-month rise in distributable revenue and extending the steady upward trend in federation earnings.

The May distribution follows successive increases recorded in previous months. In April, FAAC shared ₦2.26 trillion, up by ₦217 billion from the ₦2.04 trillion distributed in March. March’s allocation had also risen by ₦150 billion from the ₦1.89 trillion shared in February.

The figures were announced following the FAAC meeting held in Abuja, where members approved the revenue distribution for the month.

According to the committee, the total gross revenue available for May stood at ₦3.395 trillion. After deducting ₦123.546 billion as the cost of collection and ₦971.610 billion for transfers, interventions, refunds, and savings, the remaining ₦2.30 trillion was shared among the three tiers of government.

The continued growth in monthly allocations is expected to provide additional fiscal support to the Federal Government, state governments, and local government councils as they implement infrastructure projects, pay salaries, and fund essential public services.

Economic analysts say the consistent rise in FAAC distributions reflects improvements in revenue generation and could strengthen public sector financing if sustained in the coming months.
