Prominent Nigerian leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and former military Head of State General Yakubu Gowon, gathered on Saturday to celebrate the 70th birthday of former Bauchi State Governor and one-time National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu.
Also in attendance were former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) National Leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and other distinguished statesmen and political figures.
The event, which took place in honour of Mu’azu’s contributions to national development, served as a rare convergence of Nigeria’s political elite across party lines.
In a post on his official X handle, Atiku Abubakar reflected on Mu’azu’s legacy and their collaboration during the early years of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.
“Yesterday, I joined my boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, and Vice President Kashim Shettima, along with many other prominent Nigerian leaders, in paying tribute to Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Muazu, former governor of Bauchi State and one-time National Chairman of the PDP, who turned 70,” Atiku wrote.

“As Vice President of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007, I worked with Mu’azu and other governors of that era to lay the foundation for good governance and private sector-led economic growth for our country,” he added.
Atiku congratulated Mu’azu on his milestone age and wished him continued good health and strength.

The event was widely seen as a moment of reflection and camaraderie, bringing together key figures who have played critical roles in Nigeria’s political evolution.
