Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has said he has no regrets over decisions taken during his tenure in office, despite ongoing legal challenges linked to his time as minister.

Malami, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari, made the remark while addressing journalists after his recent release from detention.

The former minister is currently facing charges related to alleged financial misconduct, including accusations of money laundering, which he has denied.

Speaking on the matter, Malami maintained that all actions taken during his time in office were in line with his responsibilities and in the interest of the country.

“I have no regrets over my actions as minister,” he said, adding that he remains confident that the legal process will vindicate him.

He also alleged that his fundamental rights were violated during investigations by security agencies, claiming that searches were conducted at his properties without due process.

The case has drawn public attention, with legal practitioners and political observers expressing differing views on the development.

While some have called for due process and caution against premature conclusions, others have emphasised the need for accountability in public office.

Malami’s tenure as Attorney-General was marked by several high-profile legal decisions and controversies, making his current legal battle a subject of national interest.

The matter is expected to continue in court, where the allegations against him will be fully examined.
