Enyimba head coach Stanley Eguma has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a continental ticket by the end of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The People’s Elephant came from behind to defeat Abia Warriors 2-1 on Sunday at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba. The victory saw the nine-time NPFL champions climb to eighth place on the league table.

Despite being four points behind Abia Warriors, who currently occupy third place, Eguma remains optimistic about Enyimba’s chances.

“The league is still very much open. As far as I’m concerned, Enyimba are firmly in contention,” Eguma said during his post-match interview.

“Forget the earlier setbacks, we dropped points at home against Bayelsa United, and in Lagos, we came close to winning but let it slip. However, we’re learning from those mistakes and improving with every game.”

Eguma reiterated his team’s determination to fight until the end of the season in pursuit of a top-three finish and continental qualification.
