The media team of the former Abia State Speaker of the House of Assembly and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, has urged the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha, to stop misleading the people, noting that telling lies and propaganda cannot replace performance.

In a statement made available to the press by the media team, it stated that Nigerians know that moving a motion is not the same as executing a project.

“It is surprising to see the media team of Hon. Obi Aguocha attempting to take credit for the ongoing rehabilitation of the Umuahia–Ikwuano–Ikot Ekpene Expressway through a motion reportedly moved in 2023.

“While it is true that a motion may have been presented on the floor of the House of Representatives, Nigerians know that moving a motion is not the same as executing a project.

“A motion is merely a legislative recommendation and it does not automatically translate into funding, contract awards, or road construction.

“The people of Abia witnessed who officially flagged off the rehabilitation of this road. The project was publicly announced, mobilized, and is currently being executed under the leadership of the Governor of Abia State.

“At no point during the official flag-off or project commencement was the federal lawmaker presented as a partner, co-sponsor, or facilitator of the project.
If Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha truly facilitated the rehabilitation of this road, let his media team provide verifiable evidence showing:

“- Any official Federal Government approval attributing the project to his intervention.

“- Any budgetary allocation secured through his office specifically for the rehabilitation.

“-Any statement from the Federal Ministry of Works naming him as the facilitator.

”- Any official project document recognizing his role beyond moving a legislative motion.

“Until such evidence is presented, claiming credit for a project that is visibly being executed through the initiative of the Abia State Government amounts to political image laundering rather than accountability.
Abians are politically conscious. They can distinguish between making speeches in Abuja and delivering infrastructure on the ground”, the statement read.
