Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North Senatorial District, has announced the completion of an additional 2 kilometers of the Umuzomgbo Road in Ihechiowa, Arochukwu LGA, marking further progress in his infrastructure development efforts across the region.

This latest phase adds to the 3.5 kilometers previously completed in the same area, bringing the total length of completed roadwork to approximately 5.5 kilometers.

In a post on his verified Facebook page, the former governor expressed satisfaction with the project’s progress, stating:

“I am pleased to announce the completion of an additional 2KM of the Umuzomgbo Arochukwu Road, adding to the earlier 3.5KM, making a total of 5.5KM done so far.

With just 3–4KM left to reach Okpo Ihechiowa, I remain fully committed to delivering on this project. I sincerely appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing the necessary resources.

To the people of Abia North, thank you for your continued support. We remain committed to serving with sincerity, humility, and dedication. Keep Hope Alive!”

The road project is part of Kalu’s broader push to enhance rural infrastructure and improve connectivity in Abia North, with the aim of driving economic growth and accessibility in remote communities.

However, this development comes amid rising political tension in Abia, as the ruling party reportedly intensifies efforts to challenge Kalu’s seat in the 2027 elections. Analysts believe his ongoing infrastructure projects may play a key role in shaping public opinion and the political landscape ahead of the next election cycle.

Kalu’s consistent delivery of community-based projects, particularly in underserved areas, continues to reinforce his influence in the Senate despite mounting political rivalry.
