Human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has fired back at former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi over his recent claim that he could eradicate corruption in Nigeria within one month if elected president.
In a strongly worded video response, Sowore dismissed the remark as laughable, branding Amaechi “a fool at 40” and questioning his credibility after decades in public office with no significant progress in tackling corruption.
Amaechi, who also served as Governor of Rivers State and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, made his statement during a discussion on X Space. Sowore was quick to point out the irony:
“Amaechi was Speaker for eight years, governor for eight years, and Minister for eight years — 24 years in total. If you deduct 24 from 60, what do you get? A fool at 40 is a fool forever.”
The Sahara Reporters founder accused Amaechi and other career politicians of recycling empty promises to mislead Nigerians, stressing the need for genuine political alternatives.

“We have provided alternatives and will participate, but we are not bound by one option because time is not on our side,” Sowore said.
Directing his message to Nigerian youths, he warned:
“The clock is ticking. You might be youth today, but not forever. The system has aged many beyond their years.”
Sowore’s remarks add to the heated national debate on governance and corruption, urging citizens to demand accountability and reject leaders who have failed to deliver despite years in power.
