Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has declared Taraba the safest state in Northern Nigeria, citing significant improvements in security since his administration assumed office in 2023. The governor made the declaration during a farewell and appreciation dinner organised for heads of security agencies who recently retired or were transferred following promotions.

The event was held to honour security chiefs for what the state government described as their outstanding contributions to restoring peace and stability. According to the governor, the officers “wrote their names in gold” by reclaiming Taraba’s image as a safe haven, despite the complex security challenges facing the state when he took office.

The Governor, said the achievements were remarkable given Taraba’s diverse environment, which is home to over 80 ethnic groups. He stressed that the success recorded was driven by effective inter-agency collaboration, professionalism, and consistent support from the state government.

The honoured security chiefs, in their remarks, attributed their success to actionable intelligence sharing and strong teamwork among security agencies. They urged the government to extend the same level of support and cooperation to their successors to sustain the gains recorded.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment, Governor Kefas assured that security of lives and property remains a top priority. He pledged continued support for inter-agency networking to enhance operational efficiency, stating that Taraba must remain safe for residents, investors, and government activities.
