At least 13 people have been killed after gunmen attacked a wedding celebration in Kaduna State, leaving several others abducted and many injured.
The incident occurred late Sunday night in Kahir village, located in Kagarko Local Government Area of the state, when heavily armed attackers stormed the venue and opened fire on guests.
According to local sources, the gunmen arrived in large numbers and shot indiscriminately at those present, causing chaos and multiple casualties.
A community leader, Musa Adamu, said the attack happened around 11:47 p.m., with several victims sustaining gunshot wounds. Injured persons were rushed to the General Hospital in Kagarko, while others with critical injuries were referred to facilities in Kaduna.
Residents also reported that the attackers operated for nearly an hour without resistance, during which they looted nearby shops, carting away food items, provisions, and drugs.
Police authorities have confirmed the attack and said efforts are ongoing to determine the exact number of abducted victims, while a manhunt has been launched to apprehend those responsible.
Kaduna State remains one of the regions most affected by banditry in Nigeria’s North-West, with recurring attacks on communities, travellers, and social gatherings raising concerns over security.
