President Bola Tinubu has announced that his student loan initiative has disbursed over N104 billion to 600 students nationwide.
The President made this disclosure on Saturday, February 1, 2025, in a statement delivered at the 33rd Convocation of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State. Hajiya Rakiya Gambo Ilyasu, a Director in the Federal Ministry of Education, represented him at the event.

Tinubu also revealed that the 2025 budget has allocated over N940 billion to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) as part of efforts to revamp the education sector and ensure that financial constraints do not hinder Nigerians’ access to quality education.
“We remain resolute in addressing challenges in the education sector, including ensuring industrial harmony in universities,” he said.
The President encouraged universities to embrace the student loan scheme and advised graduates: “You have been equipped with knowledge and skills to innovate and contribute to society. Let integrity, resilience, and purpose guide your endeavors. Aspire to greatness, avoid vices, and make Nigeria proud.”
Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to strengthening the economy, enhancing security, and creating an environment where young Nigerians can thrive and fulfill their potential.
“Let us remain united in our shared vision of a prosperous, united, and resilient Nigeria,” he urged.
Additionally, the President called on universities to foster deeper collaborations with industries, aligning research with societal needs to ensure that the education system contributes meaningfully to national development.
