Transport union leader MC Oluomo has responded to online criticism targeting his spoken English, emphasizing that while he may not be fluent, he has prioritized giving his children the best education and opportunities in life.
Speaking at a recent public event, he recounted his rise from humble beginnings as a bus conductor to becoming a prominent figure in Nigeria’s transport sector, attributing his success to hard work and determination.
In his words:
“I wasn’t educated, but I worked hard. They mocked me for saying ‘Kundus’ — is that not my son’s name? You’re educated, what have you achieved? Go and compete with my children. I raised them in wealth. They are citizens of America and the UK. I got them there through hard work. Whether it’s ‘Kundus’ or ‘kudos’ — what matters is the result. English is not my mother tongue; Yoruba is.”

His remarks underline a broader message: success isn’t solely defined by language proficiency, but by impact, legacy, and the doors one opens for the next generation.
