The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Biodun Oyebanji, as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

The Returning Officer for the election, Professor Adenike Oladiji, announced the final results after the completion of collation from all 16 local government areas of the state.

According to the official results released by INEC, Oyebanji polled 319,224 votes to secure a second term in office.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, came second with 40,543 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Ambassador Dare Bejide, garnered 12,872 votes.

INEC also disclosed that 384,940 voters were accredited, 375,777 valid votes were recorded, while 6,332 votes were rejected, bringing the total number of votes cast to 382,109.

The election was conducted across the state’s 16 local government areas and was generally peaceful, although there were reports of technical challenges involving the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and allegations of electoral irregularities in some locations. Security agencies maintained a strong presence throughout the exercise.

With the declaration, Oyebanji has secured another four-year mandate to continue leading Ekiti State under the platform of the APC.
