The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to complete the upload of polling unit results from the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV), more than 24 hours after declaring the winner of the poll.

Checks on the portal showed that several polling unit results had not been uploaded despite the commission’s announcement of the official outcome of the election.

The development has sparked concerns among election observers, political stakeholders, and members of the public, who view the IReV portal as an important tool for promoting transparency and enabling independent verification of election results.

The IReV platform was introduced by INEC to allow the public to view scanned copies of polling unit results uploaded directly from voting locations, thereby strengthening confidence in the electoral process.

Although the incomplete upload has raised questions about the pace of the process, the commission has not indicated that it affected the official collation and declaration of the election results.

The Ekiti governorship election was won by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Biodun Oyebanji, who secured a second term in office after defeating candidates of other political parties.

As of the time of reporting, INEC had not issued an official explanation regarding the incomplete upload of all polling unit results to the IReV portal.

Election stakeholders have urged the commission to complete the process promptly to reinforce public confidence in the transparency and credibility of the electoral system.
