Security operatives record major breakthrough as arms, suspects nabbed across multiple operations
The Nigeria Police Force in Plateau State has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on crime, with the arrest of a suspected kidnap kingpin, gun runners, and several other criminal suspects across the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Bassey Ewah, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Jos, attributing the success to intelligence-led operations and collaboration with local residents.
According to the police chief, one of the key arrests includes Aminu Adamu, described as a notorious kidnapping kingpin operating in Bassa Local Government Area. He was apprehended following credible intelligence and is currently in custody awaiting prosecution.
In a separate operation, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested two suspects linked to an abduction along the Qua’an Pan axis, recovering mobile phones and SIM cards believed to have been used in criminal activities.
The command also dealt a blow to illegal arms trafficking, arresting three suspects found in possession of an AK-47 rifle, magazines, and live ammunition. One of the suspects reportedly confessed to purchasing the weapons and distributing them to accomplices, with further investigations ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate.
Additional arrests were made in Bokkos and Jos North, where suspects were caught with firearms, including a revolver and a locally fabricated gun, following actionable intelligence from concerned citizens.

Beyond kidnapping and arms trafficking, the police also uncovered cases of armed robbery, human trafficking, and sexual offences, with suspects already in custody and set to be charged upon completion of investigations.
The police commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, stressing that community cooperation remains critical in tackling insecurity across the state.
