Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has fired back at allegations from a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Chief Eze Chikamnayo, dismissing claims that N54 billion budgeted in 2024 for school renovations was mismanaged.
Chikamnayo’s group, after inspecting schools in Ugwunagbo and Isiala Ngwa South LGAs, alleged that most facilities remained dilapidated despite the budgetary allocation.
But in a media chat in Umuahia, Otti waved off the criticism, accusing Chikamnayo of lacking integrity and credibility.
“I was aware of what they were going to say. Their materials were sent to me before their press briefing,” Otti said. “The audited account for December 2021 clearly states how the N54 billion was spent. Chikamnayo does not understand numbers.”
The governor further alleged political opportunism, claiming that Chikamnayo had sought a role in his administration but was rejected.

“He sent someone to me saying he wanted to be part of my government, and I said no. He wants to be in every government,” Otti declared.
Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revamping education in Abia, insisting that ongoing projects stand as proof of transparency and progress.
