The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has called on Abia State Governor Alex Otti to make public the report of the government panel that investigated the demolition of a family home in Abia State and to ensure that the affected family receives adequate compensation.
The civil society organisation said publishing the report would promote transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the state’s commitment to justice and the rule of law.
According to RULAAC, the demolition generated widespread public concern and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the exercise, making it necessary for the findings of the investigation to be made available to the public.
The organisation also urged the Abia State Government to implement the recommendations of the investigative panel and ensure that any officials found culpable are held accountable in accordance with the law.
RULAAC further appealed to the government to provide appropriate compensation and other remedies to the affected family, stressing that victims of wrongful government actions deserve justice and redress.
The group noted that transparency in handling the matter would reinforce public trust in the Otti administration’s commitment to human rights, due process, and accountable governance.
It maintained that releasing the report would also demonstrate the government’s willingness to address alleged abuses and prevent similar incidents in the future.
The Abia State Government has yet to publicly respond to RULAAC’s latest appeal.
