A newly surfaced video of Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, addressing a spirited crowd at Ariaria Market in Aba, has ignited intense debate across Nigeria’s political circles.
Unlike his earlier October 3 speech at Enyimba International Stadium—delivered during the commissioning of infrastructure projects—this follow-up engagement struck a more pointed tone. Speaking directly to traders and residents, Kalu called on Abia State Governor Alex Otti to deliver projects that reflect the state’s significantly increased federal allocations.

The rally followed the unveiling of several key projects, including the 6.7-kilometer Port Harcourt Road and other rehabilitated routes, inaugurated by Works Minister Sen. David Umahi on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In the viral clip, Kalu—wearing an APC-branded cap—addresses a lively mix of market traders, party supporters, and local leaders. He praised President Tinubu’s economic reforms for boosting Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursements to states, while challenging Governor Otti’s Labour Party administration to match those gains with visible development.
“My brothers and sisters of Ariaria, the heartbeat of Aba! Look at what God has done for us through our President. When he removed the subsidy, did he pocket the money? No! He sent it straight to the states—more money flowing to Abia like never before.
FAAC allocations have jumped, resources pouring in for roads, markets, and power. But listen carefully: You can’t be getting the kind of money you’re getting now and still be doing the kind of job former governors did with far less. Where is the difference? Where are the mega-projects that match this federal lifeline?
We thank Mr. President for empowering Governor Otti, but Abians deserve to see the full impact. No more small-small works—let’s build the Abia of our dreams! If we speak truth, more will come. Credit Tinubu, hold us all accountable, and watch the transformation explode!”

Kalu emphasized that Abia’s FAAC receipts have surged by more than 40% since mid-2024, paving the way for expanded infrastructure investment. He urged local media and residents to amplify the federal government’s contributions while encouraging the Otti administration to scale up its projects in line with the increased funding.
“To our commissioner for information, to every radio station, every blogger in Abia—shout it from the rooftops! President Tinubu is not just talking; he’s delivering. These roads in Aba, the power lines, the markets breathing again—that’s federal muscle meeting state vision.

But vision without action is a dream deferred. Governor, my friend, you’ve started well—keep pushing. And to you, the people: demand more. We’re in this together. No party lines can stop Abia’s rise!”
