The Federal Government has officially closed its case against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Kanu’s lead counsel, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, confirmed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) following Wednesday’s court proceedings. The trial judge granted the defense 14 days to file a written address supporting their no-case submission, while the prosecution also has 14 days to respond.
With both sides set to submit final arguments, the court adjourned the matter to July 18, 2025, for further hearing. The high-profile trial, which continues to draw national and international attention, stems from Kanu’s controversial extradition from Kenya in 2021 and his ongoing detention.
