A youth leader of the Irigwe community in Plateau State, John Telle Danjuma, has been killed by gunmen just two months after his election as a leader of the community’s youth association.

Danjuma, a member of the Miango Youth Development Association (MYDA), was reportedly attacked and killed by suspected gunmen, sparking fresh concerns over the persistent security challenges facing communities in Plateau State.

Community leaders and residents condemned the killing, describing it as a painful loss and another setback in ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability in the area.

The incident has heightened fears among residents who have repeatedly called for improved security measures to protect lives and property amid recurring attacks in parts of the state.

The Irigwe community has witnessed several episodes of violence in recent years, with local leaders consistently urging authorities to intensify efforts to address insecurity and bring perpetrators to justice.

Security agencies are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the latest attack and identify those responsible for the killing.

The incident has also renewed calls for stronger collaboration between government authorities, security agencies, and community stakeholders to prevent further violence and restore confidence among residents.
