No fewer than 66 Nigerians have returned home from South Africa under a voluntary repatriation initiative financed by businessman and philanthropist Kunle Soname.

The returnees arrived in Nigeria following arrangements aimed at assisting stranded Nigerians who expressed a desire to return home and rebuild their lives.

The repatriation exercise was facilitated through collaboration with relevant authorities and humanitarian partners to ensure the safe return of the beneficiaries.

Many of the returnees reportedly faced difficult living conditions and economic challenges in South Africa and opted to participate in the voluntary return programme.

Speaking on the initiative, stakeholders described the exercise as a humanitarian intervention designed to provide support to vulnerable Nigerians abroad and help them reintegrate into society upon their return.

The repatriation effort is part of broader initiatives aimed at supporting Nigerians in distress outside the country and encouraging safe and dignified voluntary returns.

Observers have commended the intervention, noting that such efforts demonstrate the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing humanitarian concerns affecting citizens overseas.

The return of the 66 Nigerians highlights the continuing challenges faced by some migrants abroad and the need for sustainable support mechanisms for citizens seeking opportunities outside the country.
