The Abia State Government has confirmed the restoration of accreditation for 24 programmes at the Abia State College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu, following years of loss under the previous administration.
Governor Alex Otti made this known during the November edition of his monthly media engagement, “Governor Otti Speaks to Abians.” He noted that the institution is currently undergoing extensive infrastructural upgrades, including the construction and rehabilitation of internal roads, hostels, lecture theatres, and classrooms, all aimed at improving the training environment for future educators.
Otti further disclosed that new buildings completed at the permanent site of the Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, are set for commissioning. He added that the polytechnic has continued to support state development initiatives, particularly in the local production of refuse bins used by the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA).
According to the governor, students of the polytechnic are directly involved in manufacturing the waste bins distributed across neighbourhoods statewide — an effort he described as a demonstration of practical, skills-based training contributing meaningfully to governance and public service.
Governor Otti also announced the imminent rollout of newly acquired electric buses, which are expected to reduce transportation costs for residents once deployed.

Speaking on land administration reforms, he revealed that the state has issued 30,562 Certificates of Occupancy within the last two and a half years — a figure he described as surpassing the output of many states over significantly longer periods. He attributed the achievement to the automation of the CofO process, which he said has enhanced property valuation and improved the overall ease of doing business in Abia State.
