The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a scheduled two-day power outage that will affect the Presidential Villa, the National Assembly Annex, the Supreme Court and several other locations across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to the electricity distribution company, the temporary disruption in power supply is due to planned maintenance work on critical transmission infrastructure aimed at improving the reliability of electricity supply in the affected areas.
Areas expected to experience the blackout include the Presidential Villa, National Assembly Annex, Supreme Court, Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), National Judicial Council (NJC), Aso Drive, military barracks and several other government institutions within Abuja. Residential estates, business districts and public facilities are also expected to be impacted during the maintenance period.
AEDC appealed to customers in the affected locations to bear with the inconvenience, assuring them that its technical teams are working alongside the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to complete the maintenance work within the scheduled period and restore normal electricity supply as quickly as possible.
The company advised residents, businesses and government offices to make adequate alternative power arrangements to minimise disruptions to their activities while the planned maintenance is underway.
AEDC added that electricity supply would be restored immediately after the maintenance exercise is completed, thanking customers for their understanding and cooperation.
