Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League after a brilliant strike from Eberechi Eze secured a tense 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners came into the match under pressure following back-to-back league defeats, but responded strongly by claiming all three points in a crucial title race encounter.
Eze produced the decisive moment in the ninth minute, firing a superb effort into the top corner after a cleverly worked short-corner routine to give Arsenal an early lead. Despite the early breakthrough, Arsenal struggled to dominate possession and had to withstand determined pressure from Newcastle for much of the contest.

Newcastle nearly snatched a late equaliser when substitute Yoane Wissa found himself in a promising position, but he blazed his effort over the bar to the relief of the home supporters.
The victory moved Arsenal to 73 points from 34 matches, three points clear of Manchester City, although City still have a game in hand. Manager Mikel Arteta will also be concerned by fitness issues after both Eze and Kai Havertz reportedly picked up knocks during the match.
For Newcastle, the defeat extended a poor run of form and increased pressure as the season heads into its final weeks.
