Founder of Streams of Joy International, Pastor Jerry Eze, has shared a candid account of his early struggles after leaving a successful corporate career to pursue full-time ministry.
Speaking at the WithChude Live event, the 42-year-old preacher and digital faith leader recounted how just one month after resigning from his job, he began to question whether he had truly heard from God.
“I remember one month after I resigned—I thought I had made the biggest mistake of my life,” Eze said. “You read the Bible, you pray, and yet you wonder, could God really let me be jobless just because I want to serve Him?”
Prior to his transition into ministry, Eze had built a promising career as a communications expert, working with reputable organisations such as the World Bank’s HIV/AIDS project and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Despite that upward trajectory, he felt a divine pull toward something more meaningful.
That calling, however, ushered him into a season of doubt and uncertainty.
Looking back, Eze believes that moment of struggle was not a detour but part of God’s preparation for the global impact he now has. “That was my time of being set apart—God was preparing me for what the world is witnessing today,” he said.
As the convener of the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD), Eze has become a globally recognised figure in online ministry. He shared his story not for sympathy, but to encourage others navigating their own seasons of doubt.

“If you’ve been tempted, someone out there wants to know how you handled it. If you’ve ever thought of giving up, they want to hear how close you came,” he said. “We are all part of a much bigger picture God is creating.”
