United States President Donald Trump has urged restraint and a return to regional stability following Iran’s missile attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest US military installation in the Middle East.

In a statement issued Monday, President Trump confirmed that Iran launched 14 missiles in retaliation for the recent US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. However, he noted that 13 of the missiles were intercepted by US defense systems, while the remaining one posed no threat.

“There were no American casualties and minimal damage,” Trump said, downplaying the severity of the assault. He added that Iran had given advance notice of the attack, which helped to avert any injuries or loss of life.

Describing Iran’s response as “weak and symbolic,” Trump suggested the strike may have been more of a face-saving move. “Perhaps they’ve gotten it out of their system,” he said, expressing hope that tensions in the region would now begin to subside.

The president called on both Iran and Israel to embrace peace and avoid further escalation. “I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice,” Trump said. “Maybe now we can move toward peace and harmony in the region. I’ll encourage Israel to do the same.”

National concord reports that Iran’s six missiles targeted Al Udeid Air Base, which houses more than 10,000 US troops and over 100 military aircraft, including strategic bombers and refueling tankers.

According to Daily Mail UK, the strike was a direct response to the US-led operation that destroyed key Iranian nuclear sites last week.
